Donald Sterling Law Suit

Email LogoThe most hated man in America, Donald Sterling, will be even more hated when the NBA gets served with Sterling’s lawsuit. He will publish voluminous examples of more players and more team owners who said bad things and the NBA took little or no action. There will be no shortage of evidence to support Sterling’s contention that he is not alone is misspeaking. Other owners, players and yes, even NBA administrators, stick their feet in their mouths. Why was Sterling singled out?

I anticipate the U.S. District Court will overturn the court of public opinion and grant Sterling’s request to dismiss the charges because the NBA cannot defend its $2.5 million fine and life-time ban in light of other owners’ and players’ more egregious public statements that went unpunished.

For example, Sterling has already exemplified Shaquille O’Neal, “Referring to Yao Ming,… (on a television show): “Tell Yao Ming, ching chong yang wah ah soh.” And although the statement offended many in the Chinese community, the NBA neither fined nor suspended the player.

The LA apartment investing addict cited to the public comments of Knicks executive Larry Johnson. “After Mr. Sterling’s illegally recorded private comments were leaked, a former player and current Knicks executive tweeted: “Black people your Focusing on the wrong thing. We should be focusing on having our own, Own team own League! To For Self!” The NBA ignored this call for a racially homogenous league.”
